Oh, and Orson Scott Card rocks my socks off. Or writes my socks off.

His style gets on my nerves sometimes because he has a tendency to overexplain people's reactions, but as I've progressed through the Ender series (I've read Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, and now I'm almost finished with Xenocide), he's gotten much better about not talking down to the reader. The reason appears obvious as there are long stretches between the books' releases.

Anyway, I love the storyline he's got going here. I love his ideas and none of the plot seems overdone or underdone. I'm not a big fan of sci-fi so I'm not sure what OSC is doing differently. Maybe it's just that none of it seems terribly fantastic or out-of-this-world.
